EVERYONE deserves a BOOST.
We work with community organizations and other community members to provide those in need with one on one consultation in the following three areas: Relevant Skill Building, Financial Literacy, Connected Conversations.
WHO WE ARE
We are unwavering in our belief that people can make lasting change in their own life. But sometimes we get stuck, overwhelmed, or simply need a little help getting the ball rolling. We might not have supportive people in our lives or the resources to hire them. At times it can feel like the odds are stacked against us. This is where we come in. Sometimes all it takes is one person who truly cares, who is 100% on your side to give the boost you need to keep moving forward one step at a time. Everyone deserves a BOOST.
WHAT WE DO
Are you facing a specific challenge that you feel could use a boost? We offer one on one complimentary online sessions. Every client is eligible for up to five 1 hour sessions.
MEET TARRA
I am a first and foremost a person. At the core of who we are, underneath our credentials, careers, material belongings, friends, and social groups, we are all people. We are all human beings experiencing the full realm of emotions and trying to find our way, persevere beyond our struggles, and find success, and fulfillment. I subscribe to the belief that we all bring a unique story to the table, and that we have a lot to offer the world by tapping into that.
Part of my story is that in my ten years in the corporate accounting world, I always thought I was an empathetic accountant. As it turns out, accounting was just a stopover for me, a by-product as a way for me to remedy my own feelings of being the underdog and not feeling good enough. My story continues and I am now a Master’s degree student en route to becoming a Registered Psychotherapist, a career that I feel is my true calling, and a change of life course that has taken some courage to make.
As a CPA, I have been providing financial literacy tutorials to clients within a wide range of contexts for the last ten years. I have been a volunteer with the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program in partnership with CRA and have completed over 100 personal tax returns for free. Over the last year and a half, I have been working with West Neighbourhood House to provide computer and other skills tutoring. As far as connected conversations go, I have been having these for the entirety of my life, but I also work with the Toronto Distress Centre as a telephone responder, which is work that requires holding space for others. Due to the changing environment resulting from COVID, I felt the desire to make these resources more accessible to those who need them and thus Project Boost was born.
It is through my story that I feel I can help others, especially those that also struggle with feelings of being the underdog. Ultimately Boost is about people helping people and that is the beauty of it. I have had key people in my life give me a boost when I needed it most, and this is my way of paying it forward.
